Horizon House, a non-profit organization and centre for persons living with a primary intellectual disability situated in Stellenbosch, currently has the abovementioned position available for a reliable, proactive individual with excellent planning, organisational and interpersonal skills (Afrikaans & English).
The ideal candidate has admirable leadership qualities, can work under pressure, provide ethical insight and has a keen interest in nature-based therapy.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Executive Director and will be responsible for (but not limited to): *Maintaining and developing of psycho-social, emotional capacity, and wellbeing of residential and day care clients of Horizon House *Supervision and professional development of therapy team *Organising and conducting group sessions where psychological/psychiatric needs and life skills-training are addressed *Planning, organising and coordinating the integration of the main methods of social work *Intervening in crisis intervention, defusing trauma, providing harm reduction and therapeutic intervention as required *Updating all administrative processes including clinical notes, organising files, providing feedback *Monitoring and evaluation that is timeous, accurate, and in alignment with the workplan * Providing accurate and timeous information for reporting purposes, and all other tasks related to the position.
Essential skills, qualifications, and experience:
• Relevant diploma or degree in Social Work or similar and Registration with the South African Counsel of Social Services Professions;
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as social worker or similar is required, experience in the field of intellectual disability, brain injuries, therapeutic processes and all related aspects of those living with a disability is preferable;
• Experience in a supervisory position will strongly be to the candidate’s advantage;
• Strong computer skills (MS Office);
• Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.
