Our client, situated in the Tulbagh Valley (1 hour from CT), has the abovementioned position available for a friendly, customer-focused individual with outstanding interpersonal skills (Afrikaans & English) and an aptitude for team building as well as managing up, down and across the organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for attending to guests, overseeing staff and managing hotel administration, which includes the following: • Managing the daily operations of the hotel, including accommodation, food and beverage, conferences and maintenance of property and grounds; • Oversee ~10 person staff, including Front of House, Housekeeping and Food and Beverage Staff; • Help set standards and procedures in order to ensure efficiency and consistency of work product across functional teams; • Hire, train and review employee performance to ensure good individual performance, build team cohesion and encourage a customer-first mindset; • Administration of receivables and liabilities, maintain and be accountable for the monthly budget and prepare reports for monthly financial reviews; • Assist in the strategy development and execution of property’s marketing program. • Inspect grounds, food and rooms to ensure quality of service; • Prepare for and troubleshoot operational and customer service problems; • Proactively coordinate with external parties including suppliers, travel agents and conference planners; • Ensure compliance with health and safety rules; • All other tasks/roles related to the position. Essential qualifications, skills and experience: • A tertiary qualification in Hotel management or similar; • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Hotel Management; • A strong understanding of hotel, culinary and administration software; • Driver's license and own reliable transport; • Exceptional leadership abilities with great attention to detail; • Strong understanding of hotel management best practices and online platforms, including PMS systems, channel managers, online travel agents; • Willingness to work unusual hours and be “on-call” to address issues as they arise.
