PR and Events Coordinator

Our client, situated in the Somerset West area, has an excellent career opportunity available for a reliable, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who can take initiative and has strong interpersonal skills.

The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following duties regarding Media, PR, and Events:

Media & PR:

• Actively seeking out newsworthy stories and to prepare media releases to enhance the public perception of the client;
• Seeking out and suggesting potential PR opportunities;
• Writing of Media Releases;
• Issuing of Media Releases to Media (print, online, radio, television etc.);
• Media Liaison;
• Negotiate media space, airtime and television coverage;
• Content creation for and update of client’s social media pages;
• Update of Website & Issuing of newsletter;
• All general duties associated with Media and PR.


• Coordination, planning, and attendance of events;
• Investigation and proposal of additional events to promote the client.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience:
• Senior certificate and Diploma in PR & Events/Marketing;
• Minimum 5 years' relevant experience;
• Excellent writing skills;
• Fully bilingual (Afrikaans and English);
• Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office);
• Driver’s license and own reliable transport;
• Proven track record of working with the media in the wine industry;
• Knowledge and understanding of social media, the hospitality industry media and lifestyle media.

Must be willing to travel and work overtime.

Commencement date: April 2020
