Dutoit Agri, based in Ceres (Western Cape), has an exciting opportunity for a recently graduated MSc student to join their technical team as a Junior Horticulturist. The main focus of the role will be to support research and development initiatives through the planning, implementation and monitoring of trials and projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong academic foundation, an interest in pome fruit production and a passion for applying research in a practical agricultural environment.

Responsibilities will include: *Assist with the planning, setup and implementation of research trials and technical projects *Monitor trials and accurately collect, capture and analyse data *Conduct literature reviews and research relating to horticultural practices and new technologies *Interpret research findings and compile technical reports and recommendations *Support the technical team with horticultural research and development initiatives *Collaborate with internal teams, producers, consultants and other industry stakeholders *Assist with the administration and reporting related to research trials and projects *All other tasks related to the role.

Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:

• MSc degree in Horticulture or a closely related field;

• Specialisation in, or exposure to, pome fruit will be advantageous;

• Excellent computer skills, with the ability to work confidently with data and statistical analysis;

• Fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English;

• Willingness to travel regularly to relevant production regions;

• Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.
