Our client, operating in the fintech space and situated in Paarl (Western Cape), has an exciting career opportunity for an Accountant to join their dynamic team.


This is a hybrid role that requires 2–3 office days per week.


The ideal candidate has an accurate and efficient approach to work, communicates well, has the ability to work independently, and demonstrates a high level of trustworthiness and commercial awareness.


The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day accounting function. Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to): *Accounts Receivable: Processing monthly invoices on Xero (EFT, debit orders and card transactions); issuing invoices for monthly rentals, ad hoc sales and asset disposals; keeping aged receivables current and chasing outstanding debtors. *Accounts Payable & Banking: Loading monthly and ad hoc payments on Standard Bank Business Online; processing bank statements on Xero and reconciling transactions; compiling Friday cash balances. *Payroll Administration: Processing monthly and ad hoc payroll inputs and amendments on PaySpace; sending payment files; closing payroll runs;posting salary journals; submitting monthly EMP201 returns to SARS; monthly retirement annuity liaison with Sygnia. *VAT: Ensuring VAT invoices are accurately captured on Xero; analysing VAT reports before submission; submitting bi-monthly VAT201 returns to SARS. *Month-End Accounting: Maintaining the Fixed Asset Register (additions, disposals and monthly depreciation journals); reconciling selected balance sheet accounts; handling month-end journals; processing NCR loan interest and reconciling Xero balance against loan schedules; assisting the Finance Manager with management accounts and trial balance consolidation.


Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:

Matric required; a relevant diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field will be advantageous;

5 years' experience in a similar accounting role, with strong working knowledge of South African VAT and PAYE legislation;

Experience working with foreign currencies will be highly advantageous;

Strong computer proficiency [MS Excel, Xero, PaySpace (or similar payroll software)];

Own reliable transport.
