SENIOR FARM MANAGER

Our client, a well-established wine grape and stone fruit farm situated in the Breede River/Botha area, is looking for a practical, hands-on individual who demonstrates strong leadership and communication skills to join their team as Senior Farm Manager.

Together with the owner and viticultural team, the incumbent will ensure that the vineyards are managed to the highest standards. The ideal candidate is meticulous in their approach to producing grapes of outstanding quality.

The successful candidate will report to the Owner and be responsible for all tasks relating to the farm (including but not limited to): *managing the farm during the full year cycle (including developing and implementing vineyard and peach orchard practices such as pruning, trellis/canopy management, fruit thinning, yield regulation, tree and vine establishment, and post-harvest activities) *managing the irrigation schedule, weed and pest control to ensure optimal crop production *vineyard team management and development *drafting and executing maintenance plans for equipment and infrastructure *working within a production and farming budget in collaboration with top management and keeping track of operating costs *managing farm operating procedures, including best practice and health and safety matters *all other tasks related to the position.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience:

• Tertiary qualification in Viticulture/Farming Management;

• If no tertiary qualification, at least 10+ years' experience in a similar role;

• Proven experience in both wine grape and stone fruit production is required;

• Mechanical understanding and skills for the basic service and maintenance of machinery, equipment and infrastructure;

• Knowledge of audit systems such as Global Gap, SIZA, or WIETA, will be advantageous;

• Valid driver’s license; Code 10 with a valid PDP will be to the candidates advantage;

• Fully bilingual (Afrikaans and English).

Ons kliënt, 'n goed gevestigde wyndruiwe- en steenvrugplaas geleë in die Breede Rivier/Botha-gebied, soek 'n praktiese individu wat sterk leierskap- en kommunikasievaardighede toon om by hul span aan te sluit as Senior Plaasbestuurder.

Saam met die eienaar en wynbouspan sal die bestaande maatskappy verseker dat die wingerde volgens die hoogste standaarde bestuur word. Die ideale kandidaat is noukeurig in hul benadering tot die produksie van druiwe van uitstaande gehalte.

Die suksesvolle kandidaat sal aan die Eienaar rapporteer en verantwoordelik wees vir alle take wat met die plaas verband hou (insluitend maar nie beperk tot): *bestuur van die plaas gedurende die volle jaarsiklus (insluitend die ontwikkeling en implementering van wingerd- en perskeboordpraktyke soos snoei, traliewerk/blaredakbestuur, vrugteverdunning, opbrengsregulering, boom- en wingerdvestiging, en na-oes aktiwiteite) *bestuur van die besproeiingskedule, Onkruid- en plaagbeheer om optimale gewasproduksie te verseker *Wingerdspanbestuur en -ontwikkeling *Opstel en uitvoering van instandhoudingsplanne vir toerusting en infrastruktuur *werk binne 'n produksie- en boerderybegroting in samewerking met topbestuur en hou bedryfskoste dop * bestuur van plaasbedryfsprosedures, insluitend beste praktyk en gesondheids- en veiligheidsageleenthede *Alle ander take wat met die pos verband hou.

Noodsaaklike kwalifikasies, vaardighede en ervaring:

• Tersiêre kwalifikasie in Wingerdbou/Landboubestuur;

• Indien geen tersiêre kwalifikasie nie, ten minste 10+ jaar ondervinding in 'n soortgelyke rol;

• Bewese ervaring in beide wyndruiwe- en steenvrugproduksie is nodig;

• Meganiese begrip en vaardighede vir die basiese diens en instandhouding van masjinerie, toerusting en infrastruktuur;

• Kennis van ouditstelsels soos Global Gap, SIZA, of WIETA, sal voordelig wees;

• Geldige bestuurslisensie; Kode 10 met 'n geldige PDP sal tot die kandidaat se voordeel wees;

• Volledig tweetalig (Afrikaans en Engels).
