Our client, a leading rooibos export and marketing company situated in Citrusdal, is seeking a proficient and driven Raw Materials Technologist to join their team.


The successful candidate is highly detail-oriented, process-driven, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment requiring strong planning, organisation, and cross-functional coordination capabilities.


This role will take ownership of raw material and packaging material coordination. KPI’s will include (but not be limited to): *Raw Material & Packaging Procurement Coordination: Coordinate sourcing and procurement of all raw materials and packaging; Ensure uninterrupted supply through approved suppliers; Monitor supplier performance, lead times, and supply risks; Maintain supplier relationships and manage material shortages or risks. *Raw Material Specification & Technical Control: Maintain and control approved raw material and packaging specifications; Verify compliance with quality, functional, and brand requirements; Manage specification deviations and relevant documentation. *Incoming Quality Control & Compliance: Conduct incoming material inspections and quality checks; Manage non-conforming materials and supplier returns; Support food safety, quality compliance, audits, and investigations; Maintain quality and traceability records. *Production Support: Coordinate the availability and release of approved materials for production; Align material supply with production schedules; Issue correct packaging materials for production requirements; Prevent production disruptions caused by material shortages or errors. Planning, Systems & Reporting: Maintain accurate inventory, procurement, and quality records; Monitor supplier performance and material risks; Support continuous improvement initiatives. *Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Product Development, QA, Operations, Production, Sales, and Marketing teams; Support formulation, compliance, and production planning requirements; Ensure effective communication across departments and suppliers.


Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:

• Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Consumer Science, or a related field;

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in FMCG/Food & Beverage production environments;

• Strong understanding of raw material specifications, quality systems, and food safety principles;

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
