Our client, an established fruit farming operation of apricots, plums, and peaches, together with an on-site packhouse and workshop, is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced General Manager to assume full responsibility for the management of the unit. This position is based in Ladismith.
The successful candidate will be responsible fore (but not limited to): *Managing and coordinating all farming and packhouse activities *Planning and implementing production strategies *Overseeing stone fruit orchards, harvesting processes, and yield improvement initiatives *Ensuring the optimal functioning of packing and packhouse operations *Maintaining high quality and export standards *Leading and managing personnel structures and operational teams *Financial control, budget management, and ensuring sustainable profitability *Ensuring compliance with food safety and export regulations *Managing logistics processes and ensuring timely delivery to markets *Providing regular feedback and reports to owners and stakeholders.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience:
• A relevant tertiary qualification;
• At least 10 years’ experience in fruit farming, preferably within the stone fruit sector;
• Strong administrative and financial management ability;
• Ability to operate independently and take full accountability for the unit;
• Sound financial acumen, particularly in budgeting and cash flow management;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• Solid technical knowledge of modern production practices and farm management principles;
• Valid driver’s license.
