Description:

Our client, situated in the beautiful Hoeko Valley (Ladismith, Klein Karoo), is seeking a proactive and detail-driven Packhouse Manager to lead their stone fruit operations. The farm produces premium apricots and plums for the export market, and pride themselves on quality, compliance and teamwork.


Responsibilities will include: *Overseeing daily packhouse operations *Managing all sorting, grading, packing, & cold chain processes *Ensuring operational efficiency through time & production management, scheduling, & optimal pack-out planning *Managing cold room facilities & logistics to support export readiness *Recruiting, training, & supervising seasonal staff to meet productivity & quality goals *Managing & motivating teams *Monitoring staff productivity & ensuring adherence to operational standards *Ensuring compliance with food safety, traceability, & export standards *Upholding standards of hygiene, quality control, & safety *Maintaining accurate records & documentation for audits & operational reviews *Liaising with farm managers, logistics teams, exporters, & marketing agencies to ensure smooth operations *Communicating with production units & stakeholders *Handling administrative duties, including reporting & documentation *Appling strong organisational & planning skills to manage seasonal peaks & resource allocation *Any additional tasks related to the role.


Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:

• Minimum 5 years’ packhouse management experience (stone fruit preferred);

• Expertise in South African agricultural compliance and export protocols - including Global GAP, SIZA, Health and Safety standards etc.;

• Strong leadership and team management skills;

• Computer literacy and proficiency in packhouse software and documentation systems;

• Willingness to work hours as per industry and seasonal requirements;

• Valid driver's license.
