Our client, Ceres Cascade Farms situated in Prince Alfred Hamlet (Western Cape), has a position available for a dynamic Junior Packhouse Manager to join their growing team at their stone and pome fruit packhouse.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide hands-on leadership to ensure quality product output, accuracy, and consistency in packhouse processes and documentation.
The ideal candidate has strong organisational and planning skills, paired with the ability to communicate and engage effectively on all levels.
Responsibilities will include: *Staff productivity and management *In collaboration with the Packhouse Manager, manage & implement all sorting functions and make sure the packhouse is run according to standards *Assisting in resolving quality problems and complying with standards *Preparing and modifying documents related to fruit quality and packing for inspection purposes *Ensuring high standards of health and safety practices *Liaising with export companies *Packaging planning and scheduling *Time and production management *Collaborating with the QC team to ensure standards and food safety *Any additional tasks related to the role.
Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:
• Matric required, a relevant tertiary qualification will be advantageous;
• Approximately 2-3 years’ relevant experience in a similar role in a packhouse/food production environment;
• Knowledge of accreditation standards, e.g. Global Gap;
• Computer proficiency (MS Office and food systems/software);
• Good communication skills in English (Xhosa/Afrikaans will be advantageous);
• Willingness to work after hours and weekends as per industry requirements;
• Valid driver’s license.
