Our client, situated in Elgin (approximately 70km east of Cape Town), is a farm that is renowned for it’s apples, pears, 17 hectares of greenhouse cut-flowers, and the production of premium cool-climate wines. Our client has an exciting opportunity available for a Production Manager focused on the production of top-quality flowers.

The successful candidate will report to the General Manager of the Flower division and will be responsible for: *Managing and executing harvest, maintenance, fertiliser and planting activities *Identifying insects, deficiencies, etc., and implementing spray programs and feeding regimes to correct *Ensuring that proper watering, scouting, harvesting and hygiene procedures are followed *Ensuring that the production areas are neat and hygienic at all times *Overseeing and managing staff to ensure all tasks are done timeously and to the required standard *Planning for staff requirements on a weekly basis *Maintaining accurate records of planting, production and harvest *All other tasks related to the role.

Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Horticulture or Floriculture;

• At least 3 years’ relevant and practical experience in growing flowers or a related field;

• Must have experience with techniques and equipment for planting, growing, and harvesting plant products, including storage/handling techniques;

• Strong computer literacy (MS Office);

• Fully bilingual (Afrikaans & English);

• Valid driver’s license;

• Must be flexible and willing to work overtime, weekends, public holidays and night shifts, when required.

Employer-provided housing on the farm is included.
