Our client, a leading provider of professional food safety consulting and training services, has the above position available for a customer-focused Food Safety Consultant to join their team.

This is a remote-working position that requires frequent travel to clients.

The incumbent will report to the Technical Manager and primarily be responsible for assisting clients (mostly farmers and packhouses) in the Cape Winelands / Overberg region with their compliance by providing a professional food safety consulting and training service.

Duties will include (but not be limited to): *Developing detailed and tailored project plans aligned with proposals *Managing implementation projects efficiently within set timelines and budgets *Developing and updating compliance documentation, templates, and checklists *Conducting audits (gap, hygiene, internal, and readiness audits) and relevant reporting *Facilitating professional training interventions and workshops *Verifying the quality of work from other consultants/freelancers *Attending weekly planning sessions and coordinating training schedules with the team *Maintaining accurate records of client visits *Reporting on project deviations or concerns *Assisting the Sales team by providing technical input *Using available time effectively to attend training courses, and improve on any auditing & consulting templates or training material *Upholding all QMS processes, policies and procedures, and suggesting improvements where needed *Supporting additional ad-hoc tasks.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience:

• Diploma or Degree in Food Safety (or other relevant science-based qualifications);

• 3-5 years’ experience in managing food safety systems in an agricultural- or farming environment;

• Experience with Global Gap is required, experience with other systems such as HACCP, BRC, SIZA, and FSSC will be advantageous;

• Excellent communication skills (verbal & written) in Afrikaans;

• Valid driver’s license and reliable own vehicle.
