Our client, a well-established company in the agricultural sector is seeking a Vegetable Packhouse Manager to join their small team based in Ceres, Western Cape. This role forms part of the management team but has a hands-on focus on daily packhouse operations to ensure top-quality produce is delivered to both local and international markets.

The ideal candidate is an ambitious and entrepreneurial individual who is willing to be practically involved in daily packhouse operations, quality control, and logistical coordination, as well as actively contribute and take ownership in the long-term growth of the business. Over time, it will be expected of the candidate to become involved in the overall management of the business.

In addition to playing a strategic role in the business, the incumbent will be responsible for: *Overseeing and optimising packhouse processes to ensure efficiency and product quality *Implementing and maintaining food safety and quality assurance standards *Managing and coordinating a team of packhouse staff *Collaborating with growers and suppliers to ensure consistent product availability *Driving and supporting sales and distribution efforts *Assisting with expansion into new local and international markets *Coordinating with external logistics and distribution partners.

Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:

• Relevant tertiary qualification;

• Experience in vegetable packhouse management, seed production, and/or vegetable farming (experience with onions is preferred);

• Commercial business experience will be highly beneficial;

• Excellent communication skills in both Afrikaans and English;

• Willingness to travel both locally across South Africa, as well as internationally;

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transport.
