Description:

Pure Legacy (Pty) Ltd, with their head office based in Paarl, is in search of a Procurement Manager with excellent networking capabilities and extensive knowledge in citrus, to join their growing team situated in the Eastern Cape.


The main focus of the role will be on driving procurement in the Kirkwood, Addo, and Patensie areas.


Responsibilities will include: *Supplier Sourcing & Management: establishing relationships with fruit growers, cooperatives, and suppliers, negotiating prices and terms for the procurement of citrus, developing and maintaining supplier lists based on performance, quality standards, and reliability. *Quality Assurance & Compliance: ensuring that sourced fruit meet quality standards (including size, color, ripeness, and shelf-life specifications), collaborate with the quality control team to ensure compliance with international food safety standards, sustainability certifications (e.g., Global GAP, Fair Trade), and export regulations, conducting supplier audits and inspections to monitor product quality and adherence to contract terms. *Cost Management & Budgeting: managing the procurement budget, analysing market conditions, crop yields, and seasonal factors to optimize purchasing strategies and minimise costs, collaborate with the finance team to forecast procurement costs and prepare accurate budgets. *Contract Management & Negotiation: negotiating and managing procurement contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations. *Supply Chain Coordination: work closely with the logistics and operations teams to ensure timely delivery of fruit products for export markets, coordinating with the sales and trading teams to align procurement efforts with market demand and customer requirements, managing inventory levels. *Market Research & Analysis: conducting market research on fruit production trends, pricing fluctuations, and supply chain disruptions, monitoring global trade policies, tariffs, and regulations that may impact procurement strategies and costs, providing insights and recommendations to management on procurement strategies and market opportunities.


Minimum requirements:

• Proven experience in procurement, supply chain management, or purchasing, within the fruit export or

agriculture industry;

• Strong negotiation and contract management skills;

• Solid understanding of fruit production, quality control, and international trade regulations;

• Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities;

• Proficiency in procurement software and MS Office;

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail;

• Valid driver’s license.


Advantageous:

• Degree in Supply Chain Management, Agribusiness, Business Administration, or related field.


Commencement date: January 2025
