Ceres Fruit Growers, one of the leading fruit packing and marketing companies in SA, has the above position available for an energetic and professional individual to join their Production department at their Ceres (Western Cape) premises. This position is ideal for someone that is self-driven, analytical, detail- and technology-oriented with a mindset of continuous evaluation, improvement and drive to perfection. The successful candidate will report to the Manager: Production and be responsible for managing all aspects regarding the electronic quality sorting systems. The aim is to deliver optimum quality fruit by utilising technology available to all markets worldwide. Responsibilities will include: *Optimal set-up, programming and adjustment of defect sorting technology and analysis of data to maximise output according to quality specifications for several varieties of fruit *Ensure that quality systems are set to required standards and specification for optimum sorting and grading of fruit *Monitoring of accuracy of sorter output to maximise grower returns *Ensure that defect sorting technology functions correctly according to guidelines *Sizer software maintenance with technical engagement from manufacturer *all other tasks related to the role. Essential qualifications, skills, and experience: • Tertiary qualification in Industrial/Mechanical Engineering and/or Production/ Quality Management will be advantageous; • Approximately 3 years’ relevant practical experience in a similar work environment; • Strong numerical reasoning abilities and technical background; • Practical knowledge of quality sorting of apples and pears and fruit sorting machinery will be advantageous; • Excellent interpersonal skills (Afrikaans and English); • Excellent computer literacy (MS Office); • Willingness to perform after-hours duties as required.
