Our client, Kromco (Pty) Ltd, situated in Grabouw, is one of the major role players in the pome fruit industry and has the above-mentioned position available in the Technical Department. The successful candidate is a self-driven, analytical, technology-oriented, and dynamic team player and will directly report to the Technical Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for: *Coordinating all new variety evaluations, selective technical field days for growers, field trials when needed, and general support for growers concerning orchard husbandry practices *Carry out preparatory tasks for the pack-shed and at times the execution of field trials on request by the Technical Manager *Collect and capture pre-harvest and post-harvest trial data accurately *Assist in annual administration and tasks, i.e. orchard census, crop estimation, maturity indexing, picking standards and additional tasks, as required by the pack-shed *Represent Kromco at industry events related to pre-harvest disciplines *All other tasks related to the role. Essential qualifications, skills and experience: • A relevant degree (BSc) in Agriculture; • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role; • Good knowledge in the field(s) of Horticulture, Soil Science and/or Entomology; • Good computer literacy; • Must be willing to do fieldwork; • Fluent in Afrikaans and English; • Valid driver’s license; • Willing to work overtime as required.
