Jordan Wine Estate, based in Stellenbosch, requires an experienced, hardworking, enthusiastic individual to join their team as Financial Accountant. The successful candidate is a solution-driven team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and has the ability to work accurately under pressure.
The candidate is passionate about wine and hospitality, loyal, and relishes working in an environment crafted through relationships and family principles.
The successful incumbent will report to the Financial Manager and will be responsible for (but not limited to): *Monthly Management Reports preparation for FOH departments' performance reviews *Bookkeeping for month-end and year-end closing, including inter-departmental transactions and costing *Conducting annual budget reviews with department heads *Handling monthly VAT and Excise Duties reconciliations and filings, including reviewing wine exports *Overseeing FOH departments' inventory review, cost management, and reconciliations *Checking bank reconciliations and cash processes, including reconciling Balance Sheet control accounts *Reviewing outstanding direct-to-consumer accounts and payments *Maintaining an updated Fixed Asset Register, reconciling it to trial balance, and reviewing capital invoices *Designing and overseeing implementation of internal controls for deposits, cash, stock, and FOH sales transactions *Assist in reviewing and approving creditor invoices, beneficiaries, and payments *Reviewing credit notes and warehouse transfers *Providing financial insights on revenue trends and expense drivers to support decision-making *Liaising with auditors on external audits *Collaborating with Financial Manager on financial statements *Reviewing gratuity payouts and preparing sales commissions *Addressing ad-hoc queries, participating in meetings, and communicating with relevant stakeholders.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience:
• A relevant tertiary accounting qualification (BCom with completed articles);
• Approximately 5 years’ relevant experience within the wine industry;
• Experience in dealing with SARS, SAWIS and working knowledge of Income Tax and VAT;
• Excellent computer literacy (MS Office and Pastel);
• Own reliable transport.
