Our client, a transport company situated in the Joostenberg area (Western Cape), has the abovementioned position available for a practical, driven individual with excellent problem-solving and leadership skills to join their team. The successful candidate will serve as the primary contact concerning the vehicle fleet and operations, and will be responsible for all commercial vehicles, drivers, and related assets (including their operations, conditions, external and internal policy compliance, and overall performance). Duties will include (but not be limited to): *liaison with customers and services providers *scheduling regular maintenance on all vehicles *ordering urgent/emergency repairs as needed *establishing efficient routes and transportation schedules *coordinating drivers and on-staff maintenance professionals when setting employee schedules *staff (drivers) management & training *managing vehicle licensure and registration *ensuring fleet members have proper licensure *monitoring drivers to ensure adherence to schedules and driving practices *developing methods to decrease cost and improve efficiency *setting up & managing budget *reporting to management on budgeting, schedules, maintenance and fleet progress. Essential qualifications, skills and experience: • Matric, a relevant tertiary qualification in Logistics or similar will be advantageous; • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role in a logistics/transport environment; • Expert knowledge of industry best practices and basic vehicle mechanics; • Excellent computer literacy (MS Excel and transportation scheduling and management software); • Valid code B driver’s license and own reliable transport; • Willingness to work overtime and weekends when needed as per industry requirements.
