Our client, a global company operating in the fruit industry and situated in Paarl, is looking for a Quality Assurance Officer with experience in the fruit industry to join their team. The successful candidate will report to the Quality Assurance Manager and be responsible for managing quality systems & -audits to ensure optimum quality for exports, by pro-actively managing quality systems and protocols on the production facilities (three business units) as well as monitoring quality standards at three external packhouses. KPA’s will include: *Packhouse: ensure packing instructions are followed, manage all equipment and issues related to cartons & labels (including application & compliance), identify & address quality discrepancies, cold chain management, data collection & information management (for progress, planning, budgeting, etc.).*Technical: detect & investigate non-conformities, approving of fruit conditions at packhouse before packing commences, monitor conditions of filled boxes & pallets, supervise loading of trucks to ensure cold chain compliance. *Palletizing: Inspections & approval of minimum 2% sample pal./day. *People Management: training & performance management of QC teams, PPE management. *Reporting: weekly, monthly and end-of-season- reporting, and providing recommendations for improvement. Essential qualifications, skills, and experience: • Qualification in Food Technology or related agricultural discipline; • Approximately 3 years' experience in a similar role, with primary product experience in soft citrus & table grapes (experience with blueberry quality management advantageous); • Excellent computer literacy (specifically MS Excel); • Fully bilingual (Afrikaans & English); • Valid driver's license & own reliable transport; • Willingness to work after-hours; • Valid passport (for travelling to Spain, Tunisia, Ecuador, Chile, etc. twice per annum).
