Our client, an established company operating in the agricultural sector, is looking for an Electrical/Mechanical Technician to join their team based in Wellington, Western Cape. This role is ideal for a driven and proactive individual with excellent interpersonal & communication skills (Afrikaans & English), paired with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure. The incumbent will report to the General Manager, and be responsible for: *Installing, maintaining and repairing of electrical and mechanical equipment *Reporting on technical issues and general feedback to management *Performing factory acceptance testing of new equipment *Actively involved in research and development projects *Implementing world class manufacturing principals *On-site staff management and acting in a Team Leader capacity *All other duties related to the position. Essential qualifications, skills, and experience: • Millwright/Electrical qualification; • 3-5 years’ relevant experience in a mechanical/electrical repairs and installations environment; • Sound electrical knowledge with regard to fault finding, 3 phase circuits and VFD’s; • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams; • Good report writing capabilities; • Valid drivers license and own reliable transport; • Willingness to work extended hours in peak seasons; and travel regularly within South Africa and abroad. Advantageous: • Red seal certification; • PLC experience; • Forklift and plant equipment license; • Knowledge of the agricultural industry.
