Lomond Wine Estate, situated on The Agulhas Plain near the southernmost tip of Africa at Cape Agulhas, has an exciting opportunity for a well-experienced Winemaker with strong leadership skills and an excellent winemaking track record, paired with a passion for producing world-class sauvignon blanc & shiraz. The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to): *coordination of harvest activities *the winemaking process *blending and stabilization of wine *ensuring compliance with relevant quality standards (FSSC22000, ISO, HACCP,BRC), accreditations/certifications (IPW, SAWIS), and ethical audits (WIETA) *inventory management and product administration *cellar hygiene and health & safety requirements *participating in marketing initiatives and attending events *liaison with suppliers *cellar staff management *all other tasks related to the position. Essential qualifications, skills and experience: • Tertiary qualification in Viticulture and Oenology; • Minimum 8 years’ independent winemaking experience, including international experience; • Thorough knowledge of relevant quality systems and accreditations; • Fully bilingual (Afrikaans & English); • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office); • Valid driver’s license; • Willingness to travel.
