Our client, a boutique, independent wine producer focused on top-tier Syrah, based in the Stellenbosch area, who are dedicated to crafting their wines from the most expressive vineyards across the Cape, and exploring the potential of South Africa's cool climate regions, requires an enthusiastic Assistant Winemaker to join their team. This is a hands-on role requiring demonstrable Viticultural and Cellar expertise in producing fine wine. The Assistant Winemaker will report to the Winemaker and will be responsible for(but not limited to): *Vineyard monitoring across multiple regions *Vineyard management and contractor liaison *Vineyard quality control *Management of vineyard harvest operations *Management of Cellar harvest operations *Cellar operations from harvest to bottle *Cellar quality control with routine analysis *Inventory management *All other duties related to this position. Essential qualifications, skills and experience: • BSc Agric Viticulture and Oenology, Elsenburg qualification or similar, with the main interest in Oenology; • Approximately 2-3 years' winemaking experience; • WSET Wine Diploma level 2 or 3 (or be willing to study); • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office); • Reliable own transport with valid driver’s license; • Forklift and code 10 license and mechanical experience (or be willing to complete).
