Our client, a tomato farm in Riebeek Kasteel, has a position available for a Farm Manager. The ideal candidate for this position is a hands-on and practically-oriented individual with strong leadership and communication skills, paired with a passion for the production of tomatoes. The successful candidate will report to the Managing Director and be responsible for all tasks relating to the farming of tomatoes: *responsible for the proper care of the greenhouse as well as tomato lands, including the principles and practices of plant cultivation, propagation, and protection *managing the irrigation schedule, weed and pest control to ensure optimal crop production *plan, organize, direct, control, and/or coordinate activities of workers *establish and maintain a program to record crop growth data (weekly crop report, climate report, vegetable maturation report, production, etc.) *coordinate the biological control department to monitor pest and disease levels *be actively involved with maintenance development *frequent communication and liaison with owners *all other tasks related to the position. Essential qualifications, skills and experience: • Tertiary qualification in Farming Management will be advantageous; • Approximately 3-5 years' experience in a similar role; • Experience with related budget planning, costing and financial forecasting; • Sound knowledge of greenhouse farming; • Fully bilingual (Afrikaans & English); • Sound Knowledge of MS Office; • Valid Driver's license.
