SA Olive, an association representing the common interests of the South African olive industry, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced General Manager. This position is based in Joostenberg Vlakte and requires a hands-on approach from a leader who can organise, plan, execute and deliver on the successes of the business in its totality.
The GM will be responsible for (but not limited to): *Ensuring of financial sustainability *Initiating industry development in the areas of capacity development, export readiness, Agri business support, technical research and innovation, and transformation *Driving the pursuit of quality through policy development, training and accreditation *Promoting the recognition of an adherence to the Commitment to Compliance scheme *Generating reliable industry statistics: promotes knowledge sharing and best practices and interacts with national and international bodies *Planning and implementing industry competitions and events that promote and celebrate quality in the industry *Preparing reports for government stakeholders and the Board of Directors in accordance with the requirements of government and funding partners *Designing and supporting generic promotion activities to drive demand for local olive products Establishing and nurturing relationship with relevant stakeholders *Developing networks across agri-business sector to develop synergies and increase industry influence *Maintaining the vision of a cohesive, professional and progressive industry *Acting as Company Secretary for SA Olive *All other tasks related to the position.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience:
• Relevant Degree, preferably in a business or scientific field would be advantageous;
• NPC (Non-profit company) experience will be advantageous;
• Government Liaison experience is essential;
• Minimum 5-8 years experience in a managerial or leadership role will be advantageous;
• Relevant experience in planning, logistics and implementing operational programs;
• Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office);
• Experience in the formulation and implementation of strategies in developing industries would be advantageous.
