Our client, a wholesale Tree and Shrub Nursery based in Wellington, has the above position available for a hands-on individual with the ability to organize, plan, execute and deliver on the successes of the well-established business, whilst ensuring optimal process-driven production efficiencies. The successful candidate will report to the Assistant General Manager/Production Manager and be responsible for: *propagating plants through various techniques (seeding, cutting, grafting, etc.) *monitoring plant growth and adjust watering, fertilization, and lighting as needed *identifying and managing pests and diseases that may affect plant health *maintaining accurate records of planting schedules and growth progress *collaborating with team members to develop and implement plant care strategies *harvesting & preparing plants according to schedule for market or shipment *ensuring compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards *upskilling the team *implementing standard operating procedures *all other tasks related to the role. Essential qualifications, skills and experience: • Matric required, a tertiary qualification in Plant/Horticultural Sciences or a related field preferred; • Demonstrated experience in greenhouse or nursery operations; • Knowledge of plant propagation techniques and plant care best practices; • Strong attention to detail and ability to keep detailed records; • Physical ability to lift heavy objects; • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; • Willingness to work varied schedules, including weekends and holidays as needed(weekend duty once a month); • Excellent computer skills (MS Office); • Own reliable transport.
