NUY Winery, situated just outside of Worcester in the scenic NUY Valley (Breede Valley) has an exciting opportunity for a well-experienced Winemaker with an excellent winemaking track record, strong leadership skills, and the ability to lead the cellar operational team in producing world class, award-winning wines. This position will report to the CEO and, whilst being an excellent team player, support the execution of the vision through production of premier wines. The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to): *coordination of harvest activities *full winemaking process with the Cellar team (red, whites, fortified, MCC, bulk and bottle etc.) *blending and stabilization of wine *ensuring compliance with relevant quality standards, accreditations/certifications (IPW, SAWIS), and ethical audits (WIETA) *inventory management and product administration *cellar hygiene and health & safety requirements *liaison with suppliers, wine buyers and clients *cellar staff management *delivery of cellar budget controls *industry involvement on various related forums *all other tasks related to the position. Essential qualifications, skills, and experience: • A tertiary qualification in Viticulture and Oenology; • At least 10 years’ independent winemaking experience; • Experience with both bulk and bottled wines, and a proven track-record with previous award-winning wines will be advantageous; • Thorough knowledge of relevant quality systems and accreditations; • Fully bilingual (Afrikaans & English); • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office, Wine MS, SAWIS).
