SA Wine, a newly formed wine and brandy industry body, has a vacancy for an Executive: Industry Affairs. The role will focus on managing external relations, communications, policy & public affairs across a range of stakeholders, including government, media and industry players, with the primary objective of creating an environment for the South African wine & brandy industry to thrive & prosper. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, with the ability to build, mediate and collaborate complex relationships across various stakeholders, but especially with government. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: • Advocacy & government liaison; • Direct & influence industry related policies; • Strategic management & planning to mitigate potential industry risks; • Communication including public speaking & media relations; • Stakeholder engagement & representation; • Market growth support including domestic, global and tourism Fundraising; • Close collaboration with the Drinks Federation SA and Aware.org to drive compliance and implementation of harm reduction strategy. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • Business Management Qualification (relevant post graduate studies would be beneficial); • 10+ years’ experience in the Liquor or Agricultural Industry at a Senior Management or corporate affairs level; • Knowledge of South African government and touchpoints with the wine & brandy industry; • Deep experience in public relations / industry affairs; • In-depth knowledge of regulations & legislation pertaining to SA Liquor Legislation, Provincial Liquor Legislation, Health & Safety regulations, Agricultural Legislation, Customs & Excise Acts and other relevant legislation; • Extensive network at various national, provincial and regional Government departments.
