Our client, a well-established group of agricultural business units situated in the beautiful Le Chasseur valley, Robertson, has an opportunity for an experienced Farming Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on team player, energetic, with a problem solving attitude. This position will primarily be responsible for the operational management of the allocated farm. Farming operations include Wine grapes, peaches, apricots, tomatoes, live stock etc. The core outputs of this role are: Production Management, Irrigation and Team Management Duties will include: *Plan farming activities using budgeting techniques to achieve production targets as set by management *Develop and implement individual fruit management practices (full farming process from pruning, canopy management, crop control, plant establishment, post- and pre harvest activities, block maintenance and a soil management programmes) *Basic farming tasks related to livestock *Manage the irrigation schedule to ensure optimal crop production *Work within best practice for various environmental certifications *Ensure all relevant company policies are understood and adhered to by farm workers *All other tasks related to the position. Essential qualifications, skills and experience: • Relevant tertiary qualification (BSc, Elsenburg or similar will be advantageous); • Minimum 8-10 years' proven management and farm management experience; • This role is ideal for a practical farmer that has a passion for farming, horticulture, irrigation, and people. • Fully bilingual (Afrikaans & English); • Valid drivers license and PDP.
