Waboomsrivier Winery, situated on the banks of the Breede River between Worcester and Ceres, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Manager and Winemaker to act as Cellar Master and General Manager. This position requires a hands-on approach from a leader who can organize, plan, execute and deliver on the successes of this well-established business in its totality. The GM will lead a small team of cellar- and office staff and will actively be involved in the production of wine. The GM will be responsible for (but not limited to): *strategic input to the Board ensuring future business growth *Business development by expanding current markets and acquiring new clients *the full wine preparation process *purchasing and ordering of key process-driven materials *managing quality control systems *cellar- and office staff management *ensuring compliance with relevant quality standards (ISO, HACCP, BRC), accreditations/certifications (IPW, SAWIS etc.) *marketing of bulk wines and achieving price point targets *all other leadership and production functions related to the position of General Manager whilst being responsible for the Winemaking process. Essential qualifications, skills and experience: • Diploma/Degree in Viticulture and Oenology; • At least 10 years’ relevant winemaking experience; • 5-8 years experience in a managerial or leadership roles will be advantageous; • Excellent computer proficiency; • Fully bilingual (Afrikaans and English); • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to work independently and with a Board of Directors.
