Our client is looking for a practical, energetic, detail-oriented winemaker with proven people management skills who can work in a team to produce excellence in their wine cellar at Lelienfontein, Wellington. The successful candidate will report to the Group Winemaker and be responsible for (but not limited to): *management of the winemaking function, including coordination of harvest activities, vinification, blending, bottling and inventory management *ensuring compliance with relevant quality standards, accreditations/certifications, and ethical audits *cellar staff management *marketing activities (presenting wine tastings, attending wine shows, etc.) *liaison with the Farm Manager in terms of quality objectives *liaison with clients, consumers, and suppliers *all other tasks related to the role. Essential qualifications, skills, and experience: • Tertiary qualification in Viticulture and Oenology or similar; • 3 to 5 years of winemaking experience in a similar role; • Excellent knowledge of quality systems and accreditations; • Fully bilingual (Afrikaans & English); • Excellent computer proficiency, including MS Office; • Willingness to travel and work hours as per wine industry requirements.
