Our client, a wine producer and South African division of a leading French wine company situated in Stellenbosch, has an exciting opportunity for a Packaging Technologist to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate is a creative and technically-inclined individual with excellent attention to detail, superb interpersonal skills, that has a sound understanding of brand identity and how to apply this to packaging solutions in line with company ESG policy. The successful candidate will be responsible for packaging design, improvements, and innovation of all products. Duties will include (but not be limited to): *generating new packaging products in response to need and briefs, in line with requirements and specifications *producing samples for testing new materials and designs *liaising with marketing, purchasing and operations teams *identifying opportunities to reduce packaging costs whilst maintaining quality *conducting packaging trials to determine suitability and testing for performance *controlling production and quality standards *evaluating, selecting and negotiation with suppliers *identifying and choosing products from suppliers *keeping up to date with technological innovations and packaging solutions *maintaining packaging and final product specifications. Essential qualifications, skills and experience: • Tertiary qualification in Graphic Design or Production/Manufacturing Engineering or Packaging Technology; • 3-5 years' experience in a similar role (in a marketing/packaging environment); • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office, Photoshop, InDesign or similar); • Technical knowledge and understanding of printing process and specs.
