Origin Wines, located in Stellenbosch, currently has a position available for a dynamic Assistant Winemaker to join their team based at Grand Domaine. The ideal candidate is a diligent, detail-oriented person with strong interpersonal and leadership skills. The Assistant Winemaker will report to the Winemaker and be responsible for assisting with all processes of winemaking, from crush to final blends to bottling. Duties will include (but not be limited to): *assisting with grape sampling and processing *assisting with harvest preparations *assisting with all cellar processes during & post harvest (crushing, destemming, monitoring fermentation, assisting with blends and preparations of wines before bottling, etc.) *supervision of cellar staff *assist with quality control and cellar hygiene *assisting with inventory management *wine tastings and wine promotions *facilitation of purchase orders, receipts, and capturing on SAGE *assisting with SAWIS administration *record keeping *all other functions related to the position. Essential minimum qualifications, skills, and experience: • Diploma or Degree in Oenology and Viticulture; • Minimum 2 years' cellar experience in a similar environment; • Knowledge of different quality control systems; • Excellent computer proficiency (Wine Online and MS Office, specifically Excel); • Reliable own transport with valid driver’s license; • Willingness to work hours as per wine industry requirements.
