Our client, the well-established ‘Arboreta Nurseries’, based in Wellington, is planning to appoint a Sales & Marketing Manager. The ideal candidate is an ambitious and energetic individual that will drive the sales and marketing activities. The role is built on excellent communication and relational skills, a results-driven sales strategy paired with the ability to support Garden Centres and chains, the Landscape Industry and other stakeholders. The suitable candidate will have an engaging, cheerful and outgoing character.
This role reports to Senior Management with close collaboration with the Production and Finance departments. The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not be limited to): *Building lasting relationships with our established clients and finding new avenues to improve sales *Provide input regarding sales figures and product prices *Prepare and submit tenders, quotes, orders and estimates *Attend to on-farm direct sales *Managing forward order agreements *Prepare and compile availability and stock lists, distribute lists on a routine basis through email and a web-based business to business online sales platform *Manage Sales Representatives, including setting up job description/objectives *Attend to quality control, orders preparation and dispatch *Sales reporting *Liaison with clients and suppliers *All other functions related to the position.
Travelling through the Western Cape sales area will be necessary to establish and extend relationships with all clients.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience:
• Minimum 5 years of similar Sales and Marketing experience in a B2B environment;
• Experience/knowledge in the landscaping arena and wholesale nursery will be a benefit;
• Excellent customer relationship management skills with the ability to work independently while also learning the culture of the business;
• Excellent practical computer skills (especially in Excel) with a focus on sales reporting, managing stock in the accounting system and online platform;
• Excellent creative writing skills;
• Willing to put in the extra hours during peak seasons;
• Proven experience in controlling stock and managing staff in a fast-paced environment where deadlines are a priority and handling multiple tasks as requested by clients;
• Above-average technological skills in order to optimally utilize the online ordering platform.
