Our client, Viking Aquaculture (Pty) Ltd., currently has a vacancy for an Assistant Accountant based at Buffeljags Abalone Farm (Gansbaai, Western Cape). The Assistant Accountant will be responsible for the processing of transactions and ensuring adherence to financial controls throughout accounts receivable, accounts payable, cashbook and general ledger transaction processing. Responsibilities will include: *Compilation of monthly debtors and creditors age analysis *Review sales invoices and supporting documentation *Assist debtors and creditors clerks with query resolution *Compile monthly consolidated sales report *Review monthly cashbook reconciliations *Process of weekly and monthly payment requests on online banking *Compile and process all intergroup invoices and journals *Assist with compilation and processing of monthly accruals and general journals *Reconcile monthly fixed asset transactions and compile fixed asset registers *Assist with capital project reconciliation *Responsible for collation of monthly control account documentation *Assist with external and internal audit requests *Assist Accountant and GCFM with group reporting *all other tasks related to the role. Technical Competencies: • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures (IFRS); • Knowledge of company tax regulations; • Proven experience with Pastel accounting package; • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; • Attention to detail and able to draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material; • Ability to take responsibility and drive deliverables; • Work experience in manufacturing will be advantageous. Essential qualifications, skills and experience: • Tertiary qualification in accounting or finance; • Completed articles; • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar position; • Must be a team player.
