Our client, a European Family Office specialising in private equity investments in Europe and the US, require a Chief Accounting Officer to join their small but dynamic team. The role will be based in the Northern Suburbs, Western Cape, and will report directly to the locally based CFO. If you are a motivated self-starter, detail-oriented and articulate with a keen sense of responsibility and the ability to work independently, this role will be perfect for you! The successful candidate will carry overall responsibility for the entire accounting function up to financial statement level. Responsibilities include: *Bookkeeping, recordkeeping and reconciliation of accounting transactions *Day-to-day banking and upkeep of payments on banking systems *Facilitate internal and external approval processes on new investments *Liaising with bankers and counterparty representatives to facilitate international transactions in various currencies *Preparing accurate and timeous monthly management accounts *Maintaining up to date portfolio performance, investment schedules and liquidity reports *Ensuring compliance with internal governance and controls, including KYC and AML requirements in various jurisdictions *Detailed review and analysis of balance sheet accounts and reconciliations to facilitate month end reporting *Drafting financial statements in accordance with IFRS for SME’s and internal accounting policies and assisting with the group consolidation *Liaising with the external auditors to facilitate the annual audit and finalisation of Annual Financial Statements across the group *Preparing and filing tax returns in consultation with external advisors to ensure tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions on all tax matters *Assisting in analysing data, compiling and populating reports or other value add services as may be required from time to time. Essential qualifications, skills, and experience: • Chartered Accountant or similar professional designation (ideally with big-4 experience); • 5+ years of appropriate, post-article accounting experience; • Experienced in Cloud-based accounting software like Xero; • Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft software ecosystem will be beneficial; • Experience in international jurisdictions and/or the investment sector would be highly beneficial; • Occasional international travel may be required from time to time that would not exceed two weeks per annum.
