The successful candidate is a driven individual with excellent leadership qualities and problem-solving skills, has the ability to develop and maintain healthy relations with all stakeholders, and thrives in a high-pressure environment. Duties and responsibilities will include (but not be limited to): *cost control and reporting of the department *management of staff in the department *scheduling of work in conjunction with the Fleet Availability Manager *designing and developing new implements (occasional drawing will form part of the function) *improve current implements with feedback received *improve/implement systems to ensure effective flow and reporting *purchases and stock control *drafting of quotations and project cost estimates *project management of work for external clients, including being primary contact for client *all other tasks related to the position. Essential qualifications, skills and experience: • Tertiary Diploma/B. Tech qualification in Mechanical Engineering required, professional registration will be to the candidate's advantage; • Minimum 5 years' relevant experience in a production/manufacturing environment with specific focus on the following: o Designing, drawing, and manufacturing heavy equipment; o Experience in an engineering shop production environment; o Proven project management, personnel, and expense management skills; o Ability to identify new business opportunities. • Strong computer skills (MS Office, 3-D design/drawing programmes); • Fully bilingual (Afrikaans & English); • Drivers license and own reliable transport; • Willingness to work hours as per industry seasonal requirements.
