Our client, a mixed-farming operation situated in the Bredasdorp area (Western Cape), currently has the abovementioned position available for their registered Jersey dairy farm. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual with excellent management and communication skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for all dairy farm management and related administrative duties of a designated dairy herd of 300 cows, including: *personnel management and supervision *mixing of animal feeds *general maintenance of the farm as well as service and repair of tractors and farm equipment *recordkeeping of registered Jersey herd specifications, AI, and milking records *birth notifications *overseeing of calf rearing, cow-drying and -steaming programs *all other duties related to the role. Essential qualifications, skills, and experience: • Matric required, a relevant tertiary qualification in agriculture will be advantageous; • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role (including in a management capacity) with: o Knowledge of dairy cattle o Mechanical knowledge (including welding) o Knowledge and experience with livestock illnesses and medicine o Knowledge and experience with AI • Fully bilingual (Afrikaans & English); • Excellent computer literacy (MS Office); • Valid driver's license (a Code 14 license will be advantageous). • Willingness to work hours as per industry requirements and assist with ad hoc tasks related to mixed farming operations.
