Our client is a well-established Ornamental Plant Production Nursery, based in Wellington, and is planning to appoint a Sales & Marketing Manager. The ideal candidate is an ambitious and energetic individual that will drive the sales and marketing activities. The role is built on excellent communication skills, a results-driven sales strategy paired with the ability to sell to large and medium Garden Centres and chains, the Landscape Industry and other stakeholders. This role reports to the Operations Manager with close collaboration with the Production and Finance departments. The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not be limited to): *develop new client/new business market and maintain existing client relationships *provide input regarding sales figures and product prices *complete order estimates and splits (shrubs, herbs, succulents, trees etc.) *attend to on-farm direct sales *managing forward order agreements *prepare and compile availability and stock lists, distribute lists on a routine basis through email and a web based business to business sales platform *manage Sales Representative, including setting up job description/objectives, and managing outcomes *quality control of outgoing orders to reduce comebacks *sales reporting *liaison with clients and suppliers *all other functions related to the position. Some travel through the Western Cape sales area will be necessary to establish and extend relationships with all clients. Essential qualifications, skills and experience: • Minimum 5 years' similar Plant sales/Retail and Sales management experience; • Experience with production, nursery production or similar agricultural environment will be to the candidate’s advantage; • Excellent customer relationship management skills with the ability to work independently; • Excellent Excel and computer skills with a focus on sales reporting, managing stock in the accounting system and online platform.
