Our client is a wholesale Tree and Shrub Nursery, based in Wellington, and is planning to appoint a Production Manager. This position requires a hands-on approach from a Leader who can organize, plan, execute and deliver on the successes of the well-established business and ensuring optimal process-driven production efficiencies. This role reports to the General Manager with close reporting and collaboration ties with Sales and Marketing Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not be limited to): *Filing and data organisation *Personnel management *Staff rostering, scheduling and work hours planning *Planning and recording skills *Budgeting, costing and management and ordering of raw materials *Understanding plant culture, growing media, nutrition, climate and watering *Communication between farm labour and supervisors *Production Reporting *Liaison with clients and suppliers *all other functions related to the position. Essential qualifications, skills and experience: • Tertiary qualification in Plant/Horticultural Sciences (BSc Agriculture/Horticulture) or similar; • Minimum 5 years' similar experience; • Experience with nursery production or similar agricultural environment will be to the candidate’s advantage; • Experience in similar general managerial roles will be to the successful applicant’s advantage; • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to work independently; • Excellent Excel and computer skills; • Capacity to work back through older excel based plans and integrate these into forward planning; • Knowledge of import/export protocol for live plants; knowledge of local permitting requirements for indigenous plants; Commencement date: January/February 2022 Please apply online at www.m3online.co.za before 09:00 on Sunday 12th of December 2021.
