Ceres Fruit Growers, based in Ceres (Western Cape), is looking for a self-motivated individual that has the ability to collaborate with farm owners and management to support optimal crop yield, through focusing on fruit quality improvement as well as compliance with spray guidelines. This role will report directly to the Manager: Producer Services. The ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal skills, is eager to learn, and will form part of a dynamic team. Responsibilities will include *management of pest control protocol *management of MRL’s in cooperation with chemical representatives & industry bodies *producer interaction regarding farm protocol & special marketing programs *conducting physical orchard inspections *monitoring & communication of spray samples *compilation & interpretation of spray program guidelines*overseeing production units - fruit specifications, pool choices, orchard preparation strategies, and feedback in terms of market requirements. Essential qualifications, skills and experience: • Tertiary qualification in Agricultural Sciences; • Minimum 3 years’ Entomology or Horticulture experience (pome fruit industry will be advantageous); • Knowledge and/or experience regarding technical aspects of fruit production and related agricultural chemicals will be beneficial; • Fully bilingual (Afrikaans & English); • Excellent computer literacy in MS Excel/Word/PowerPoint; • Own reliable transport and valid driver’s license.
