Our client, a farm in its expansion phase and situated in the Overberg region (Western Cape), has the above exciting opportunity available for an energetic, self-motivated, systems-driven individual. Strong leadership and analytical skills, with the ability to perform well under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines are crucial to the role. The successful candidate will report to the General Manager and be responsible for the full farming function of vineyards (7ha) and blue berries (20ha), including: • Irrigation o Managing plant micronutrition through irrigation systems o Training and supervision of irrigation and data monitoring team o General water management o Managing maintenance of irrigation system, both bulk and in-block systems • Harvest Management o Harvest estimation o Training and supervision of data monitoring teams o Managing/supervising of cutting/pruning and harvest processes o Insect management and general management of plants • Purchases, Stores and Supplies o Coordination with System Administrator regarding purchases and orders o Requesting of quotations o Logistical arrangements regarding purchases and verifying that goods/services have been received o Design, implement, measure and report on store/warehouse controls and processes regarding e.g., tools, fuel, herbicides, and fertigation. o Maintain good supplier relationships o Safekeeping of chemicals • Employees and Wages o Training and coaching of employees as required. o Assistance with equity compliance and reporting o Assistance with wage input information, including hours worked. • all other tasks related to the role. Essential qualifications, skills and experience: • Relevant tertiary qualification in Agriculture; • 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role, including experience with vineyards and soft fruit; • Excellent computer literacy (MS Office); • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills; • Valid driver’s license.
