Our client, a mixed farming and packing operation located between Stellenbosch and Somerset West, has the above vacancy available for an experienced individual with strong managerial skills. The ideal candidate has experience managing a large workforce, and has the ability to apply management practices to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency in the Packhouse. The successful candidate will report to the Packhouse Manager and will have a strong production focus - managing all activities and people (60 - 160 employees) related to the pack line to ensure costs, productivity, client and quality standards are adhered to; and that the cold chain is maintained. This includes: *supervision of line managers and teams *ensuring compliance with relevant client specifications *ensuring compliance with relevant quality and regulatory standards (FSSC22000, HACCP) *ensuring compliance with health & safety requirements *production administration and reporting *all other tasks related to the position. Essential qualifications, skills and experience: • Matric (relevant tertiary qualification will be advantageous); • Approximately 5 years’ experience managing large teams in a similar agricultural/production work environment; • Knowledge and experience in quality control systems (FSSC22000, HACCP); • Basic computer literacy; • Afrikaans & English (Xhosa will be highly beneficial); • The ability to perform physical aspects of the role; • Valid driver’s license (forklift license will be advantageous); • Must be willing to work long hours, and alternate Saturdays/ 2 Saturdays per month.
