Our client, a specialist plant improvement organization in the deciduous fruit industry, with their office in Stellenbosch, has a vacancy for a Senior Manager responsible for the production unit in the business. The ideal candidate can function at the strategic-and tactical levels, can work independently, and has the ability to engage on various levels within the fruit industry, academia, partner organisations and service providers. The incumbent will report directly to the CEO, and will be critical in ensuring that the business’s value proposition to its current-and potential clients are optimized. Essential qualifications, skills and experience: • Bachelors Degree in an Agriculture related discipline (Honours/Masters in Horticulture, Pomology or Viticulture would be advantageous); • 10 Years’ experience in the cultivation of fruit varieties, ideally with experience in the commercialization of pome fruit-, stone fruit-and grapevine varieties; • 5 Years' experience in a senior management position; • Proven track record of relationship building with external stakeholders, negotiation skills and marketing; • Willingness to travel.
