Ceres Fruit Growers, based in Ceres, has the above position available for a driven and dynamic individual with excellent analytical skills to form part of the team that organises and implements CFG's storage program.
The incumbent will report to the Managing Director and will be responsible for *post-harvest treatment of apples and pears through implementation of the post harvest program *monitoring of fruit quality *maturity indexing *evaluation & adjustment of storage protocols *compilation of post-harvest protocols *ensuring traceability & shelf life of products *performing storage tests & analysis *development & management of compliance systems, e.g. SANAS *liaison with industry & research institutions *ongoing technical research *communication with producers & technical staff.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience:
• Postgraduate qualification in Horticulture (preferably MSc);
• Thorough fruit knowledge of apples and pears;
• Previous work experience within the pome fruit industry;
• Fully bilingual (Afrikaans & English);
• Excellent computer skills;
• Own transport with valid drivers licence.
